New Hope & Ivyland Railroad - Warminster-New Hope thru service

Preservation & Active Use of the ex-Reading New Hope Branch

PA-TEC recommends the development of a public-private partnership between SEPTA, NHIR, Bucks County and PennDOT to add value to this corridor through limited, seasonal service between Warminster, Lahaska and New Hope. Minor track improvements will improve ride quality for passengers who wish to travel through the New Hope-Warminster line. There is no SEPTA service in New Hope Borough, Warwick Township or Buckingham Township.

NHIR has proven that private operation of passenger rail service is possible though their First Friday operation of passenger rail service between Lahaska and New Hope, which provides a mass transit solution to transporting riders from Buckingham Township to New Hope for New Hope Borough's Friday night fireworks events. This train operates only on Fridays, with (2) round trips between Lahaska station and New Hope Station. This service was implemented without any studies from DVRPC, and without expensive station facilities found on the SEPTA system.
